There comes a time in all our lives when it is necessary to ponder, access, and clean our minds of the debris we have collected over lifetimes.
Thoughts, feelings, and beliefs that at one time took us to extremes become no longer important as we awaken to a higher state of consciousness. Learning to ‘be” and live moment to moment is where we all need to strive to be. It is not only good for your sanity, it is imperative for your health and well being.
Through periodic reflection, we can travel to a state of mind that shows us our growth, successes, and areas of our life we might need to place more effort and attention to. Reflection is a marvelous way to take you to your soul. That soul holds the answers to so many unanswered questions the world has been unable to answer.
The Medical Intuitive, Carolyn Myss once said, “The soul usually knows what to do to heal itself. The challenge is to silence the mind.”
Ah, yes! Our friend the mind, at times can take us to parts unknown and other times takes us to a “monkey mind” state of thought that runs faster than the Road Runner Cartoon.

Self-reflecting leads us to embracing self-love and self-acceptance which then leads us to walk this journey called life more compassionately with more understanding of one another. Some of the ways to begin reflecting are:
Journaling
Journaling at night before you go to bed helps you release stresses and let go of the day. Your subconscious mind will do the work of clearing things during the night while you sleep.
Setting Intentions
Setting intentions is like a recipe. Without organizing your thoughts and writing them down how do you expect the Universe to automatically know where you want to go in your life or what you want to do? Like a recipe, without the list of the proper ingredients, you cannot expect the food to be worth eating.
Strengthening Self Esteem
Through working on yourself and building your confidence you are learning how to choose thoughts that help you feel good which then leads you to feelings of happiness and bliss which then leads you to living the dreams of your imagination and co-creation.
Access Your Values and Beliefs
Do you really know what you stand for and what you believe in? So many people don’t. Many people are still riding on the values and beliefs their parents instilled in them. Are yours the same? It is important to make a list of these things. It will help you uncover more of who you are.
Meditation
Quieting your mind helps you begin to reflect on where you are right now. It allows spiritual guidance to open within you and helps you learn to receive. So often many of us have been taught to give but never understanding the importance of receiving. It is like the yin & yang. Without both, you do not understand the experience of harmony and balance in your life.
Self Care
We live in times where the rate of stress, depression, anxiety, and suicide are on the rise. People are escaping themselves through addiction to drugs, alcohol, sex, jobs, and anyway they can for lacking the necessary coping skills in their life. It is essential to take time to take care of you. Aren’t you important? You should be the most important person you know. Take a walk in nature, breath, let go of the past. Those things were only stepping stones that helped you get to this point.
Know that at the end of the day, no matter what is going on in your life, you are who you have in your life. If you don’t make you a priority, you can’t expect anyone else to. How you feel about you will either make or break you. Then ask yourself, “Do I really want to feel this way at the end of my life when I take my last breath or do I want to make the shift now and reach out into the world feeling incredible and pay it forward?” It’s time to make a choice! You can do it!
